Hotel Keys of Hope Program

With a passion to support a charitable cause so close to the hearts of its employees, Extended Stay America partnered with the American Cancer Society to create the Hotel Keys of Hope℠ program, which helps patients and their families overcome the financial stress of travelling for treatment.

Since 2013, Extended Stay America has donated over 130,000 free and deeply discounted hotel rooms, helping over 17,000 people get access to cancer treatment away from home, saving them over $8 million in lodging costs.

The Hotel Keys of Hope program has pledged to increase our donation of free or deeply discounted rooms so that cancer patients and their caregivers can save over $7 million in lodging cost and get access to potentially lifesaving cancer treatment.

“The Hotel Keys of Hope℠ program literally saved my life”, said a cancer patient and hotel guest. “After six months, I was so tired of living out of my car, staying at friends' houses and asking for favors while in cancer treatment five days a week. I was at my wit's end. I prayed, dear God, please provide me somewhere to stay, I can’t do this any longer. So when I learned about Extended Stay America’s lodging program in partnership with the American Cancer Society, I knew my prayers were answered.”

Extended Stay America hotels provide a unique, home-away-from-home for cancer patients receiving treatment; amenities like fully equipped kitchens, free in-room Wi-Fi, on-site laundry facilities and pet-friendly room options, allow patients to lodge with their caregivers, children, and even beloved pets to provide healing. In-room kitchens allow guests to maintain their dietary routines and also save money by avoiding restaurant costs.

To qualify for the Hotel Keys of Hope℠ program, please call the American Cancer Society's 24-hour Cancer Information Center at (800) 227-2345.

National Cancer Survivors Event

Delivering Hope To Children

Each year, over 10,000 children under the age of 15 are diagnosed with cancer. It's a diagnosis that can turn a family's life upside down. In an effort to bring awareness to the issue, Extended Stay America created Hope the teddy bear, a cuddly symbol of kindness and comfort. Extended Stay America has committed to providing 10,000 Hope bears to children's hospitals throughout America with the goal of bringing a smile to the face of a child battling cancer.
